The process of self-tutoring in paint and sketch has been a continuous one since my early years. I gained a lot of my technical skills working on festivals and installations with the ‘Dogs of Heaven’ artistic collective in Hulme Manchester between 1989 and ‘95. I was also involved with the ICA crew ( Inner City Artists) painting graffitti pieces and attending graff jams in London. I was asked in to paint an infant school playground in Bellevue and this led to a job working as a scenic artist at the RNCM on Oxford Street. In the production of grand opera sets I also had the opportunity to develop my carpentry skills which often prove valuable.
In 1999 I was starting to pick up work regularly so I founded my company ‘’Have Paint Will Paint’’. Under this new working title I have painted in Sydney, Melbourne, San Diego, Las Vegas, Montreal and Zurich. I have painted bars, nightclubs, schools, youth hostels, houses etc etc. I have also met a wide range of briefs for illustration in a wide gamut of styles.
Here in London I have received illustration commissions from British Waterways and the Environment Agency. This led to a position with the charity Groundwork running teenage mural workshops in Lewisham and Southwark. I was also employed painting signs banners for them and running design groups to gather ideas from local communities. Groundwork also commissioned a number of mural pieces including one 4 storeys high , of a rising sun, overlooking the mainline railway by Millwall FC.
I have been involved in numerous published projects with many posters, a map, cards and a regular comic strip in the London magazine LimbyLimb.
I have just returned to England after 3 years studying Spanish in Madrid and giving classes of English. Recent projects that I have completed include a mural on the side of a pub/restaurant/hotel on the corner of Harrison Street and Seaford Street WC1 which I completed in December ’08. I have just finished a company profile for a client in Switzerland, this included a logo and header. I have been doing some bespoke greeting cards including a wedding invite for an Indian wedding completed in Feb '09. In April 2009 I painted the 'Ben Kinsella Memorial Mural' in Brecknock Road in Tufnell Park for the Brecknock Primary School outside of which Ben, sadly, was killed last summer, the link to the video of this event is on the 'About Me' page of this site. In June 2009 I painted a mural at the Dellow Centre off Brick Lane with the help of the day centres homeless and addiction challenged clients. The images are now uploaded in my portfolio page.
I use mainly spray paint and acrylics though have encountered other mediums, these include; oil, woodcarving, mosaic, installation, digital media.
Using both mac and pc. I have created a number of websites including my own using html , flash, java and photoshop and illustrator.
